With a career spanning since 1978, Jose A. Perez-Albela, aka as "Japa", has been actively engaged in the insurance and reinsurance industry with notable achievements:

From 1978 to 1982, he served as a P&C Senior Underwriter at Seguros El Sol in Peru, one of the largest insurers at the time. The insurer was formerly owned by local shareholders, Riunione Adriatica di Sicurta (RAS), and Generali. It was subsequently acquired by Allianz, before eventually coming under the ownership of Mapfre. 

Between 1982 and 1986, he held roles as Senior Account Executive and Assistant VP at a Peruvian retail and reinsurance broker in Lima, named B. I. Davis . The broker was initially owned by local partners and partially by Frank B. Hall Inc., subsequently  acquired by A&A, later acquired by Aon. During that period, Japa was responsible for managing the entire insurance programs of the largest corporate accounts of the local broker. He also spent approximately a year at Frank B.Hall Overseas in New York, where he served and placed insurance and reinsurance programs for large US-based multinational clients with interests in the Latin American region.

In 1986 Japa moved back to  an insurance company in Lima named Cia. Internacional de Seguros, primarily owned by Grupo Brescia with a partial ownership of Royal UK/Ralli Brothers.  The company later mergered with Rimac.

At Cia. Internacional, Japa served first as VP & Assistant Manager of the P&C Underwriting Division, and subsequently as VP in the Marketing and Sales Division.

In 1988, he and his family relocated to Toronto, Canada, where he joined Commercial Union's P&C Underwriting Division as Senior VP.

From 1989 to 1995, he was Vice President of the International Reinsurance Division for Latin America at Reed Stenhouse/A&A  in Ottawa, Canada. The company was ultimately acquired by Aon. 

Transitioning to the United States in 1996, Japa was invited to be part of a the newly created Latin-American Reinsurance Broking Division of American Phoenix in Florida, later acquired by HRH (now Willis). Initially Japa was the Senior VP of all LatAm Reinsurance Broking operations and later served as its President.

In 2004, Japa partnered with local associates to establish a hub for Latin American reinsurance broking business in Miami, Florida, overseeing operations as CEO alongside a Lloyd's Reinsurance Broker partner which was later acquired by THB UK (now Amwins).

In 2008, Japa co-founded "InteRBroS" (International Reinsurance Brokers Solutions, LLC), a private independent premier boutique firm, specializing in reinsurance for the Latin American region. Serving as CEO, Japa leverages over 40+ years of experience, expertise, and strong client-reinsurer relationships cultivated throughout his successful career.

Continuing to lead from InteRBroS' Miami headquarters, Japa remains dedicated to serving the Latin American insurance sector with passion and professionalism, prioritizing client and partner satisfaction above all else.
